Watch Out started as a class project. It was my first semester at St. Thomas, and I was taking the Pop Music Collective Ensemble. That’s where I met Khadim (Diorcoldd), who was showing me beats in the studio. This one came on, and I knew it was the one. We had to make a song for our assignment, and I wrote and recorded most of it in one day, right in my Ireland dorm.

We signed the song to 480 that same semester and performed it with Owen H. and Alejandro for our class final. The song title is actually what Dior had named the beat and we just kept it. Nowhere in the song do I even say "watch out".

This isn’t necessarily my usual style, but I fr couldn't pass up on Dior’s generational beat. Huge thanks to him, Owen, and co-producers Chxrme and Seasxn, for making this one possible.

I wrote “Sunbeams” during my second semester of college when I began to feel homesick. Home, for me, is the Driftless Region, known for its endless bluffs, forests, and rivers. The song weaves together fragments of old myths and stories and explores a universal, central theme of longing: longing for home, for nature, and for the light. At its core, “Sunbeams” is about reaching for that light and listening to your calling.

Ivy is a song that was inspired by a loss in my life. It was hard to feel that loss, but what made it even harder was to see the people around me struggle with it as well. Ivy tells a story of watching someone go through grief, and how we can see the subtle effects even when they try not to show it. Even though Ivy started off as something sad, I think it’s blossomed into something beautiful. I think it shows that some losses are only so hard because we love so deeply❤️

Rushing is a song that follows the thoughts that go through your head on a sleepless night. All of your ambitions, embarrassments, and desires seem to cling to you as you walk the line between reality and a dream.

The song was written as an assignment for a class, which allowed me to let go of the pressure that comes with something you write with the intention of releasing it. For me, the words came relatively easy, with me walking into my room to write the song, and walking out around 5 minutes later having mostly completed it (to the utter disbelief of my roommate at the time).

There have been periods in my life which for whatever reason i’ve spent most of my nights lying in bed giving anything for just a few hours of rest. When I couldn’t sleep, something that would always help was music. The songs I’d listen to without a doubt inspired aspects of this song. Bands like, Slowdive, Radiohead, and Joji are just a few of the artists that made those nights a little easier.
